Touhou Koumakyou New Classic shipped on 9 September 2026 for Steam, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, and PlayStation 5. Japanese store pages and the official spec sheet often print 10 September 2026. Steam, Alliance Arts English posts, and Western listings use the 9th. Treat that as a timezone split, not two different builds.

Shanghai Alice Reprise developed the remaster with ZUN and JYUNYA. Alliance Arts published it. The product is a single-player vertical danmaku shooter: you pick Reimu or Marisa, clear six stages, then chase Extra if you finish the story on Normal or higher without continuing.

Standard edition is $17.99 / ¥1990 and includes New Classic plus Classic. Deluxe is $24.63 / ¥2966 and adds a soundtrack package of more than 30 tracks: the 2002 originals and ZUN’s New Classic arrangements. Steam sells Standard as a two-app bundle and Deluxe as a three-app bundle. Switch Standard grants Classic with the purchase. Steam and PlayStation 5 list the pair as a bundle rather than a hidden extra.

New Classic supports 12 languages (Japanese, English, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Korean, French, German, Spanish, Latin American Spanish, Russian, Brazilian Portuguese, and Italian). Classic is Japanese only. New Classic adds 1080p presentation, rearranged music, Spell Practice, Challenge Mode with unlimited lives and a death counter, a visible hitbox, and boss markers.

Day one delivered both versions on every platform listed above. Steam lists achievements, Cloud, Family Sharing, partial controller support, a keyboard-only option, and adjustable difficulty on New Classic. The Classic Steam app (4924840) is a faithful 2002 recreation with Japanese text. Soundtrack buyers on Steam get app 4924910; console Deluxe buyers get a Digital Sound Player instead.
