Touhou Koumakyou New Classic Deluxe Edition

Soundtrack discs, the $6.64 gap, and why Steam Deluxe is a three-app bundle.

Deluxe Edition

Price and what you actually get

Standard Touhou Koumakyou New Classic is $17.99 / ¥1990. That SKU already includes New Classic and Classic. Deluxe is $24.63 / ¥2966. The extra money buys the soundtrack package: more than 30 tracks covering the 2002 score and ZUN’s New Classic arrangements. Deluxe does not add Extra Stage, shot types, spell cards, or a second player. If a store tile implies otherwise, you are looking at a bundle label, not extra gameplay.

On Steam, Deluxe is a three-item bundle at 15% off the separate prices: New Classic (app 4659620), Classic (app 4924840), and the soundtrack (app 4924910). You cannot buy Classic alone. You can buy the soundtrack later if you started on Standard, but the bundle is the cheaper path if you already know you want the audio.

Switch Standard grants Classic with the New Classic purchase. Steam and PlayStation 5 sell the pair as a bundle. Console Deluxe includes a Digital Sound Player app. Steam Deluxe includes a soundtrack playable inside Steam instead of that console player. Same catalog, different wrapper.

Soundtrack discs

The Steam listing splits the album into Disc 1 and Disc 2, 17 cues each, 34 tracks total. Disc 1 is the 2002 score. Disc 2 is ZUN’s New Classic arrangements of the same titles. Lengths differ; the names do not.

Signature cues on both discs: A Dream More Scarlet than Red (title), Shanghai Scarlet Teahouse ~ Chinese Tea, Locked Girl ~ The Girl’s Sealed Room, Lunar Clock ~ Luna Dial, Septette for a Dead Princess, U.N. Owen Was Her?, and Scarlet Chamber ~ Eastern Dream… Disc 2’s teahouse, Septette, and U.N. Owen all run longer or shorter than the 2002 mixes; they are new recordings, not rips.

In-game, New Classic plays the arrangements. Classic plays the 2002 set with Japanese menus. Deluxe is for listening outside a credit. The Music Room still exists on Standard. Credits list Team Shanghai Alice as artist and ZUN as composer.

Who should buy Deluxe versus Standard

Buy Standard if you want to play. Both versions, all difficulties, Spell Practice, Challenge Mode, Extra unlock, and the Music Room are in the $17.99 SKU. A 1CC does not care which album you own.

Buy Deluxe if you want both catalogs in a dedicated player or you collect Touhou OSTs. People who already own a 2002 rip still have a reason: Disc 2 is the 2026 arrangement pass.

Skip Deluxe if you have not finished Easy. Spend the gap in Spell Practice. Steam can add app 4924910 later; console Deluxe is its own product, so check for an upgrade path before you double-buy. Do not expect English Classic or extra stages. Classic stays Japanese. Languages live on New Classic.

Platform differences that affect the receipt

Steam. Two bundles on the same app page. Standard = New Classic + Classic. Deluxe = those two plus soundtrack app 4924910. Family Sharing and Cloud follow each app’s store flags. The soundtrack is additional content and does not include the game if someone gifts you 4924910 alone.

Nintendo Switch and Switch 2. Standard grants Classic. Deluxe adds the Digital Sound Player. Nintendo lists separate Standard and Deluxe pages for Switch and Switch 2; buy the SKU that matches the hardware you use as primary.

PlayStation 5. Sold as a bundle. Standard product id UB0527-PPSA38353_00-0750792482949890. Deluxe uses UB0527-PPSA38353_00-0470937244519444 and includes the sound player rather than Steam’s soundtrack app.

The dollar and yen figures above are launch US / JP list prices. Tax-inclusive yen tags of ¥1990 or ¥2966 are the same two tiers.

What Deluxe is not

It is not a season pass, a second Extra, or a requirement for Getting Started. Pay the extra $6.64 when you want the albums in a player. Future music is not promised.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers about New Classic, Classic, shot types, and Extra Stage.

How much is Deluxe compared with Standard?

Standard is $17.99 / ¥1990. Deluxe is $24.63 / ¥2966. The gap buys the soundtrack package, not extra stages.

Three items: New Classic (4659620), Classic (4924840), and the soundtrack (4924910), sold at 15% off the separate prices.

Is the console soundtrack the same as Steam?

Same catalog: 2002 tracks plus New Classic arrangements. Steam uses a soundtrack app. Switch, Switch 2, and PS5 Deluxe include a Digital Sound Player instead.
